Saturday Rides Starting from Starbucks in Rosemount, MN
The forecast calls for light winds out of the S-SE (6-10mph), so let's plan to ride the Hastings-Ravenna Trail Loop and enjoy a slight tailwind on the way home. We last did this route on July 14 and it's a nice one that takes in a lovely section through Spring Lake Regional Park.

Read MoreThe river has receded, so this week we will ride the 48-mile route to Prior Lake, which follows the Minnesota River for a few miles. We'll leave Rosemount at 8:00, stop at Edelwiess Bakery in Prior Lake, and return to Rosemount around 11:00.

Read MoreSaturday, we will do a ride that's longer than usual for this time of year. We'll do the Red Wing route that we rode once last September. Starting at 08:00, we will ride from Rosemount, through Hastings and Prescott, to Red Wing and back. This will be an 81-mile route with about 1,700 feet of climbing, so expect return to Rosemount around 13:00. We will stop briefly at the Lock and Dam in Hastings and again in Red Wing at Hanisch Bakery and Coffee Shop. This is a no-drop ride, so we'll group up at the top of the hills and keep a lower pace than normal, due to the ride length.

Nick Carter, NorthStar Development Team, added another national championship to his cycling resume when he won the 2018 USA Cycling Amateur Road Nationals Men's 15–16 Criterium in Hagerstown, MD. In the Men's 15–16 Road Race, he finished fourth. Nick has previously won a national championship in Cyclocross and Mountain Bike.

We will following the Orchard Lake route for most of the route, since the trail along the Minnesota River is still underwater and we can't use the normal Prior Lake route. This route will be about 55 miles and it will include a stop at Edelwiess Bakery. As usual, we'll leave Rosemount at 08:00.
Earlier this month, four girls from the NorthStar Development team — Jenn Mettler, Erika Peterson, Lily Ensign, and Josephine Rimirez — raced in Canada at the Le Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski. They competed in the five-day race and we helped them get there with a $400 sponsorship to reduce the cost of their trip.

This is an important 5-day stage race for cadet-age girls (15–16 age). Its mission is to prepare young athletes for international competition in Tour De France style stage racing. This is the only North American stage race for girls to experience stage racing, in a large field (70!) of other girls.
Read MoreThis week, we will ride to Minneapolis and St Paul and follow the Minneapolis Greenway route clockwise. There will be some minor route changes that will make the ride nearly 60 miles. About 26 miles in, we will stop at Sebastian Joe's for a pit stop, before making our way to the Greenway and returning home via St Paul and Inver Grove Heights.
