Ride Saturday, Oct 28
Once again, the weather forecast for this weekend is far from ideal. It's going to be cold all weekend, but, if the roads are dry Saturday, I'll lead a ride at 10:00. Look for an update Saturday morning.

Last Saturday, we repaired some bikes at the Free Bikes 4 Kidz warehouse in New Hope. This year, they have over 9,000 bikes that need to be repaired before December 2, when they are given to low-income kids.
Bikes are collected one day a year, by Allina Health, and they go through several steps before they are ready to be given to a kid. Bikes are organized by size and type and put into the warehouse in neat rows. They are cleaned, a pre-check is next, a mechanic checks and repairs the bike, and, finally, a quality check is done by a senior mechanic. As of today, more than 1,000 bikes are ready to be given to new owners.
Thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday morning, so let's give back to our community and volunteer as mechanics for Free Bikes 4 Kidz. You may remember that I sent a message about this opportunity a few weeks ago. They have a 26 slots open on Saturday 09:00 - 12:00 at their warehouse.
Read MoreThere's rain in the forecast again on Saturday and the start time for the wetness has been moving earlier in the day as they update it. If the forecast changes for the worse by Friday night, I'll postpone the ride to Sunday morning, again.
Read MoreSaturday looks like a wet one, certainly in the morning, and the weather forecast for Sunday looks great, so I will lead a ride Sunday morning.
On Sunday, we'll leave Starbucks at 09:00 and ride north into St. Paul, for about 48 miles. We should return around Noon.
Reminder: To make club communication easier and better for everyone, we created a Rosemount Cycling email group via Google Groups. You may join the group by sending an email message to rosemountcycling+subscribe@googlegroups.com.
This week, the wind will be out of the south again, so we will ride to Cannon Falls clockwise for 56 miles. We'll leave Starbucks, in Rosemount, at 08:15 and we should return around 11:30.
Read MoreSaturday, we will ride clockwise from Starbucks to Prior Lake and back for about 48 miles. We'll start at 08:15 sharp, so we should finish about 11:30.
Read MoreThis week, we will ride counter clockwise from Starbucks to Northfield, leaving at 08:15. We should have a nice tail wind coming back. The route is 55 miles, so we should finish around 11:45.
If you're on the mailing list and you don't get a message from me (Cory Wagner) by Friday, check our web site and you should find the ride info there, or contact me directly.
Doug Blomker will be leading the ride Saturday to Cannon Falls. You'll ride counter clockwise from Starbucks in Rosemount, leaving at 08:15. Follow Doug's direction and keep the pace at a level that everyone can sustain until you get back to CR 46, when anything goes. It will be cool an windy, so dress appropriately.
Saturday, starting at 08:00, not 08:15, we will ride from Rosemount, through Hastings and Prescott, to Red Wing (use the link for the approximate course) and back to Rosemount. There's a new trail from Hastings to Prescott, which we'll take for that part of the course, and there are some nice hills on this ride for about 2000 feet of climbing. We will stop in Red Wing to refuel at Hanisch Bakery and Coffee Shop and/or Quick Trip. Both places are close together and offer many food options and rest rooms. This is a no-drop ride, so we'll group up at the top of the hills and keep a lower pace than normal, due to the ride length.
