Thank you, Rosemount Cycling Club, for supporting four NorthStar Development girls racing in Le Tour De La Releve Internationale De Rimouski from July 4th to July 8th, 2018. This is an important 5-day stage race for cadet-age girls (15–16 age). Its mission is to prepare young athletes for international competition in Tour De France style stage racing. This is the only North American stage race for girls to experience stage racing, in a large field (70!) of other girls.

This week, we will ride to Minneapolis and St Paul and follow the Minneapolis Greenway route clockwise. There will be some minor route changes that will make the ride nearly 60 miles. About 26 miles in, we will stop at Sebastian Joe's for a pit stop, before making our way to the Greenway and returning home via St Paul and Inver Grove Heights.

Saturday, we will ride the Hastings Revenna Trail route, which is 58 miles. We'll start at 08:00 and make two short stops, for a nature break, near mile 26 and 43 (Lock and Dam #2), so bring food. I'm also planning to change the route to avoid crossing Hwy 52 at CR 66, since that intersection is getting so busy.

This week's ride will leave Rosemount, at 08:00, and go to Northfield and back, since the wind will be from the south and I won't be able to lead the ride this week. No one has volunteered to be ride captain, so I'm nominating the oldest rider to be the this week's ride leader. They will be responsible for the group and the route direction, or appointing someone else to do the same. Use a circular paceline to keep everyone together on your ride to Northfield.

We have been invited to join a ride on July 4 from Marine On St. Croix, led by Fred Storti. The ride will leave Marine at 08:00 and the plan is to do the 57 mile ride via Stillwater, Osceola, and return to Marine. You may call Fred Storti at 612-790-2170.

Another ride on July 4 is the Great Scott 50 Classic Bike Ride in Prior Lake. Check-in begins at 7:15 am. The 50-mile route departs at 8:00 am and the 25-mile route departs at 8:30 am.

This week, we will leave Rosemount at 08:00 and follow the Orchard Lake route counterclockwise, with a brief stop at Orchard Lake Beach. The route is 45 miles long, and you can cut it a bit shorter. As many of you know, this is a hilly ride for a stretch along Judicial Rd, so we'll group up at couple of points along the way to keep everyone together. Hopefully, rain won't be a problem this week.

Saturday, we will return to Cannon Falls, with a stop downtown at Hi-Quality Bakery. We will follow the route clockwise and, due to construction on CR 46, we will take CR 42 and Hwy 55 to get to CR 85 and head south toward Cannon Falls. The ride will still be about 56 miles long.

Update Saturday: You can go back to bed. Today's ride is cancelled, due to rain and thunderstorms in the area. By the time they clear out it will be too hot to ride. I have plans Sunday, so I won't be able to lead a ride then. It will be quite hot this weekend, so stay hydrated.

Saturday, we will leave Rosemount at 08:00 and follow a 70-mile course, which is based on the Revenna Trail route that we did a couple of weeks ago, and it includes a couple of roads that we haven't been on for a few years. We are going clockwise, so even the same roads will feel like new ones. The Prairie Island route will take us through Hastings and out Revenna Trail and beyond to near the Prairie Island power plant, where there's a 2.75-mile, 383 foot climb at the half-way point and then we return to Rosemount with a tail wind. If you need to make shorter, there are a couple of good turnaround points. If it rains Saturday morning, we will do the same ride Sunday at the same time.

It's supposed to rain all day Saturday, so we will ride Sunday morning instead. We'll ride north into Minneapolis to the Greenway and stop at Sabastian Joe's. Sunday, the ride will start at 08:00 from Starbucks and we'll follow the Greenway route counter clockwise. The High Bridge is closed, so we will change the route some and cross the river at Wabasha Street.
