Ride Saturday, April 2

It may not look like it outside now, but we will do another outdoor ride Saturday. It will be windy from the northwest Saturday afternoon, so I’ve shortened our normal Bloomington loop a few miles and we’ll do that loop clockwise. The ride will leave Starbucks in Rosemount at 1:00 pm. During the ride, it should be about 47 degrees with mostly sunny skies and WNW winds at 10 to 14 mph.

Our kit order has arrived. You may pick up your order before or after our rides.

Are you a Masters Cyclist (age 35+)? If so, a couple of students in the Advanced Exercise Physiology: Clinical Applications course at Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN are conducting an anonymous survey, “Prevalence of Heart Conditions in Masters Cyclists (age 35+).” They ask you to participate in, and/or spread the word about their survey. The anonymous survey will take 20 min or less to complete.

With this survey, they hope to understand if there is a relationship between years of cycling, and having been diagnosed with heart conditions such as atrial fibrillation, other arrhythmias (electrical signal abnormalities that lead to skip heartbeats or your heart beating too fast, such as SVT, PACs/PVCs, etc.), hypertension (high blood pressure), and coronary artery disease (CAD). They will compare our findings to those of classmates who are surveying masters swimmers, runners, and rowers.
