Winter Gathering Recap: Honoring Our Own

During this year’s Winter Gathering, hosted at Randy Twito’s house on January 24, about 25 people gathered to swap stories, learn about Tim O’Brien’s Tour de France ride last summer, and honor the contributions of three club members.

The evening kicked off with drinks and conversation before Tim O’Brien shared pictures and stories from his Tour de France ride.

Awards & Recognition

  • Dan Casebeer: Fritz Ferris presented a thank-you card, signed by RCC members, to Dan Casebeer, owner of Grand Performance in St. Paul. Dan has been a long-time sponsor of RCC and other Twin Cities clubs. We wish him the best as he prepares to retire in May.

  • Cory Wagner: Jack Conrad presented a Community Champion of the Year award to Cory for participating in 20 MS Ride Across Minnesota fundraising rides. Gary Johnson also thanked Cory for stepping up to manage the club's needs in recent years.

  • Tim O’Brien: Jack Conrad presented a second Community Champion of the Year award to Tim for completing the entire 2025 Tour de France route—one week ahead of the pros—while raising £30,000 for Cure Leukemia. Tim’s family joined us to celebrate this incredible feat.

  • Gary Johnson: Mark Parr presented a Lifetime Achievement award to Gary for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and mentorship. Gary co-founded the club in 2003 with Jerry Anderson and others, leading the RCC until August 2017. His contributions have been foundational for countless cyclists throughout the Twin Cities.

A Note of Thanks

A huge thank you to Randy for providing a variety of snacks and delicious food from Las Tortillas Mexican restaurant. Costs for the evening were graciously covered by Randy, the club, and those in attendance.
