Ride Sunday, Nov 19

We are working on new kits for next season and hope to have them ready for your to order in the next month or two. We will be going through Grand Performance and using the same Garneau kits that GP uses for the store's team and club. These kits are very good quality and won't be expensive.

You may want to head over to GP sometime in next few weeks to check out the SPBRC kits and see how they fit you, so you are ready when we have a final design. While you're there, if you need to pick up some supplies or get some maintenance on a bike, tell them that you're an RCC club member for special treatment at the register.

To prepare the kits for printing, we could use some help from someone who has some artistic skills, Adobe Illustrator, and is willing to do some art work for the club. We want to update the kit design, while keeping with the same colors and a similar look. Let me know if you, or someone you know, can help us out.

Sunday afternoon looks like it will be warm enough for a ride for a few hearty souls. It's supposed to get cold overnight Sunday morning, but it should warm up into the mid 30s in the afternoon. Let's plan on a ride Sunday at 13:00 and I'll post an update on Sunday morning.

Update:
Recently, someone asked about getting a tour of QBP's headquarters and warehouse in Bloomington. Well, I checked with them and they have public tours the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm. On the tour, you may learn how QBP builds over 80,000 wheels and 6,500 bikes annually and 5,000 dealers stock their shops from a list of 40,000 SKUs. They have three other warehouses, but this is the only one that carries every SKU. I'm planning to go on December 6 and it would be great to see a few other RCC riders there, too. The address is: 6400 West 105th ST, Bloomington. RSVP by emailing amaier@qbp.com.

The weather Sunday is looking good -- for this time of year. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to lead the ride Sunday afternoon (leaving Starbucks at 1 pm), because I have a cold or flu that's taking its toll on me. The wind should be out of the southwest, so you may want to do the Orchard Lake route. You can shorten it up by taking Hwy 3, Pilot Knob Rd, or Dodd Blvd out or in, depending on which direction you go. I bet Pete will be there.

Also, remember that Free Bike 4 Kidz needs your help to prepare thousands of bikes for their new owners. They are open 7 days a week, so give them a hand for a few hours. Their big giveaway is on December 2 and you can help fit the kids to their rides and see the smile on their faces, but only if you've volunteered before then.
