Ride Saturday, Nov 4

It looks like we will be able to ride again Saturday morning. I'm letting you know now, so you can plan your Saturday, even though a change in the weather forecast could easily derail our ride. So, you can plan for a ride from Starbucks leaving at 09:15, riding to Hastings and returning around Noon.

I'll update you Friday, when we have a more accurate forecast.

Update:
It may be snowing now, but the weather forecast for Saturday morning still looks good, so we'll ride the 49 mile Hastings and Hampton route in the opposite direction from a few weeks ago. We'll leave Starbucks at 09:15 and return around Noon. The temps will be a bit warmer than last Saturday, when we found some snow in West St. Paul.

To give you an idea about what to wear, last week I wore the following items: long-sleeve thermal base-layer top, Gore long bibs and long-sleeve jersey (both have wind stopper fabric), balaclava, hat and helmet on my head, thin gloves inside a pair of warm Garneau lobster gloves for my hands, and on my feet, thin wool socks, thick wool socks, shoes, chemical warmers and two pairs of show covers. My hands warmed up near the half-way point, so I removed the inside gloves, and my feet got colder throughout the ride as the chemical warmers lost their gusto. My hands and feet have poor circulation and prefer warmer temps, but that won't stop me from riding until the roads are icy. Randy, Pete and I had a great ride.
